Policy Brief - Black Women Climate Resilience

Making cities more climate resilient will only be successful if we involve the urban peripheries, where the impacts of climate change are most profound and urgent. The experience of the ANDUS Mentorship for five black female community leaders in different Brazilian cities shows that building networks of support and knowledge can transform the response of communities to climate change.

This Policy Brief presents data on urban peripheries in Brazil and the women who live there; highlights the main lessons learned and results of the “Black Women for Climate Resilience Mentorship”, carried out by the ANDUS Project; and suggests strategies to strengthen women's protagonism for climate resilience in urban peripheries.
